Minutes for FAIS AdHoc Conference Call on April 25, 2005. Doc 05-312v0 Minutes taken by Larry Hofer. Report any corrections to the t11_5@mail.t11.org reflector. Attendance: Anshul Chadda EMC Bill Whalen EMC Brad Glade EMC Claudio DeSanti Cisco Dave Peterson CNT Ed McClanahan Brocade Eddy Quicksall Ivivity Greg Golubski EMC Larry Hofer McDATA Parag Bhide Aarohi This conference call Closed AI-56 (05-008v3) and Closed AI-40 (05-294v0). AI-57 is still open (William C., Ed M., and Anshul C.) will have a combined proposal out next week. The group intended to discuss the updated API proposal 05-008v3 and the 05-294v0 proposal. Doc 05-008v3 (API) Review: Chadda (EMC) ------------------------------------------------------ Anshul walked the group through the document. There was some discussion on Table 5 (FAIS_SCSI_FLAG): The group thought that INDETERMINATE should be removed since EVENTS are under discussion, plus it was probably only useful for parallel SCSI which FAIS doesn't support. Some discussion was on whether we should add two new combinations -- An actual READ COMMAND. An actual WRITE COMMAND. They seemed to be redundant, so were not added. BIDIRECTION is equivalent to both (bits) set to READ and WRITE. This enum is for CDB structure on page 26. When events are added, this flag should probably be moved to a general section so it can be applied. It was observed that some of the API from the original clause 2 had not yet been reformatted to be consistent with the rest of the document (e.g. Members sections). There was a discussion about restructuring FAIS_VDEV_TYPE_CHILD_PARAM using a union in the structure. The next call should be for reviewing the new merged document (region and API) proposals. The review ended at section 1.6.2.16. There was no time left to review 05-294v0 so this was deferred. Folks were encouraged to use the reflector to provide additional comments. There were two new action items from this call which the WG secretary may assign: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Action: Ed M. to make a proposal on how to make the conventions section consistent in the draft. (Opened 4/25/05) Action: Anshul and Ed M. to address the creation or not of the BIT in the combined proposal.(Opened 4/25/05)
